SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and Trinity University have released statements about victims of the deadly floodwaters that washed through Central Texas over the holiday weekend. Both universities reside in the San Antonio area.

In an X post, Trinity University announced their student Aidan Heartfield and the daughter of football offensive coordinator Wade Lytal were among those that remain missing along the Guadalupe River.

Heartfield is a marketing major, and a projected 2026 graduate from Trinity.

The university is encouraging students to visit the Parker Chapel foyer at any time. There will be a member of the Chapel’s Spiritual Life team at 11 a.m. daily, according to the post.

There will also be opportunities for students to speak to a mental health professional, as well as Trinity’s Employee Assistance Program for faculty and staff.

The community at UTSA is mourning the loss of a faculty member. Katheryn Eads, a senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology, was among those confirmed dead.

Dr. Eads was brought on in 2022 and this year became a full-time faculty member in the College for Health, Community and Policy, according to the university.

UTSA is encouraging students, faculty and staff to take advantage of the university’s wellness resources.
