ST. LOUIS – Several hospitals across the St. Louis region have been named among the nation’s best in a new Forbes list, earning praise for patient care, value and hospital performance.
Forbes released its inaugural “Forbes Top Hospitals 2026” list in early December, highlighting medical centers that scored highly for patient outcomes, best practices, financial value and patient experience. According to Forbes, the hospitals selected “offer top-notch, high-value medical services.”
To compile the list, Forbes partnered with healthcare analytics company Inovalon and analyzed data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog as part of its methodology.
In Missouri, these were the St. Louis-area’s top-rated hospitals, each with four or five stars overall, according to Forbes:

Parkland Health Center (Farmington)

Mercy Hospital – St. Louis (St. Louis)

Missouri Baptist Medical Center (St. Louis)

St. Luke’s Hospital (Chesterfield)
In Illinois, these were the St. Louis-area’s top-rated hospitals, each with four or five stars overall, according to Forbes:

Alton Memorial Hospital (Alton)

Memorial Hospital in Belleville (Belleville)
Based on recent estimates, there are around 160 licensed hospitals in Missouri and more than 200 licensed hospitals in Illinois.
