After an unusually warm Christmas week in Dallas-Fort Worth, the region is going to enjoy its last hot day of the year before heading into a cold front.
Sunday is starting somewhat sunny, with day temperatures topping out at 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
North Texas is under a wind advisory from noon Sunday to 3 p.m. Monday, according to the weather service. Winds between 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 to 50 mph are expected.

Nighttime temperatures are expected to dramatically drop to a low of 35 degrees on Sunday with steady wind gusts continuing through the night.
On Monday, the Dallas-Fort Worth region will remain chilly, with daytime temperatures topping out at about 45 degrees. Overnight temperatures are forecast to be in the 30s until Wednesday.

The weather will get slightly warmer through the week with temperatures in the 60s on New Year’s Day, the weather service’s forecast said.
