ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WTVA/WMC) — An Ole Miss football player was arrested in Alabama just days before the Rebels are set to play in the Sugar Bowl.
Police say Dante Jovon Core, a freshman defensive back from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was taken into custody on December 26th following a traffic stop in Andalusia.

According to authorities, officers stopped a vehicle they say was traveling more than 110 miles per hour and did not have a visible license plate. During the stop, officers reported smelling marijuana, which led to a search of the vehicle.
Police say that search uncovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Core was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Core bonded out later that same day after posting a $1,000 bond.
Ole Miss is scheduled to face Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day in New Orleans.
