Early on in the 2025 NFL season, it was clear that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys needed more help on the defensive front after trading away superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons.
While there weren’t many options available for the Cowboys to try and help replace Parsons, they were able to sign former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year deal. Clowney performed well during his time in Dallas this season.
Clowney’s impact was clear all season long. That has brought up questions about his potential future with the Cowboys moving forward.

Now that the offseason is coming up quickly, an answer about Clowney’s future in Dallas may have already been given.

As shared by Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys’ official website, Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones dropped a clear hint about his view of Clowney’s future with the team.
“We’ll be talking with his guys right away,” Jones said. “With his willingness to want to be here and us wanting him to be here, hopefully we can figure something out.”
Obviously, the Cowboys are hoping to be able to re-sign Clowney in free agency. They will undoubtedly see competition from other teams who could use pass-rushing help, but Dallas offered him a great fit and that will mean something when pursuing a new deal with him.
Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, Clowney played in 12 games. He racked up 35 total tackles to go along with 5.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and three defended passes.
Since being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick back in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, Clowney’s career has not quite lived up to the hype. He never blossomed into an elite superstar.

In his 152 career games played, the 32-year-old defensive end has totaled 444 tackles, 63.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries, one interception, one defensive touchdown, and 35 defended passes.
Those numbers are not shabby at all. However, he has not become the elite superstar he was expected to be during his college career at South Carolina. Despite that fact, he may very well have found a home with the Cowboys moving forward.
