Peter Schmeichel has singled out the transformative impact that Senne Lammens has had on Manchester United after noticing one key detail about the Red Devils.

The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper has made 12 consecutive Premier League starts for the Red Devils since Lammens’ United debut against Sunderland.

Lammens has two clean sheets to his name at United, which came in the 2-0 win against Sunderland in October and against Newcastle in the 1-0 victory last Friday.

Peter Schmeichel is a big fan of Lammens and the 62-year-old treble-winning former United star has talked up the Belgium international’s presence at the Red Devils.

Senne Lammens’ confidence has shone since his deadline-day move from Royal Antwerp in September, with the Manchester United star commanding his box.

The former Royal Antwerp ace has been comfortable in collecting crosses and avoiding any howlers that plagued the likes of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Even iconic ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Lammens for his strong start to life at Old Trafford after the Red Devils signed him for an initial £18.1m fee.

Speaking on Viaplay (via United Zone), Peter Schmeichel insisted that United are not ‘hesitant’ with passing the ball back to Lammens and the player has already instilled “trust.”

“He’s only 23,” he said, before adding: “Since he joined the team, the defence is much more composed.

“We no longer hesitate to pass back to him. We trust him, and he exudes great confidence.

“I also appreciate his quick transitions. As soon as he receives the ball, he doesn’t hesitate to clear it to the other side or quickly launch a counter-attack.”

“I think he’s living his dream and that he’s eager to learn and improve every day,” he said.

“I think he’s already had an excellent run.”

United defeated Newcastle 1-0 in their penultimate Premier League match of 2025 on Boxing Day and the Red Devils will now face Wolves on Tuesday evening.
