Dennis Edward Franklin, 78, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, surrounded by love, with his wife at his side.
Dennis was born on August 4, 1947, in Binghamton, NY, to Grace Lorraine (Heller) Franklin and Henry Singer Franklin. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Katherine Konuito and Mary Sevcik, and niece Laura Koniuto.
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves as a pharmacy technician in a medical support unit.
Dennis spent over 30 years with IBM as a software engineer in research and development, where his work contributed to several patents. He was deeply committed to his community: coaching T-ball, softball, and soccer; serving on the board of directors for the local Girl Scout council; being president of the Endicott United Soccer Association; and, volunteering for many years with the AARP Tax Aide program in Clay County, FL.
Dennis enjoyed a life rich with interests and passions. He loved sailing and fishing, had a lifelong interest in technology and meteorology, and found joy in playing the piano, dancing, and playing card games. He also enjoyed riding his horse Taffy and, above all, cherished time spent with his family.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Ann (Libby) Franklin; his children, Jeanne (Franklin) Glogowski (Matthew), Anthony Franklin, and Matthew Franklin (Nicole); his grandchildren: Sydnie Glogowski, Corey Glogowski, Kate Franklin, Sam Franklin, Sara Franklin, and Anthony Jose Franklin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, of whom he was very fond.
Dennis will be remembered for his friendliness, intelligence, dedication, and humor, and for the love he shared with his family and all who knew him.
Rights of Christian Burial to honor Dennis will be held on Monday December 29, 2025, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church,1606 Blanding Blvd, Middleburg, FL 32068. Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and the family will welcome guests at 10:30 AM, along with a small gathering following the mass. Funeral Arrangements handled by Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
