Jordan Spieth, the 2017 Open champion, will be in the field next week for the final major of the year at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

On a recent appearance on the “Up & Adams Show,” the Dallas native confirmed he will play at the British Open after nearly a month away from pro golf.

“I knew it was gonna be short-lived and it was only kind of a few days,” Spieth said of his injury last month. “I’ve been back to full strength, getting ready for the Open Championship next week.”

Spieth, a former Texas Longhorn, was last in action at last month’s Travelers Championship, a signature event on the PGA Tour. He retired after just 13 holes with what he called “a weird neck spasm” in the first round. It was the first withdrawal of Spieth’s PGA Tour career.

Despite last month’s setback, Spieth told Adams he would arrive in Northern Ireland with “no restrictions.”

“I’m gonna be a little bit of a late arrival, but but I’ll be there,” Spieth said of the year’s final major championship. “Luckily I’ve played The Open at this course in Northern Ireland, six years ago now, so I don’t feel like I have to learn a new place.”

Spieth has made the cut at all three majors this year with two top-25 finishes at the Masters (T14) and the U.S. Open at Oakmont (T23). He will be playing for his second Open Championship and fourth major title next week.
