The Texas Women’s Foundation announced a major investment in education and workforce development last month with their $500,000 gift to the Dallas College Foundation. The grant will support programs including Dallas Promise, Family Care and Finish & Fly.

Dallas Promise provides free tuition to area high school students. The Family Care Program offers childcare and family support classes focused on parenting, nutrition and financial literacy to students who are parents or expectant parents. Finish & Fly helps students overcome barriers to degree completion, including transfer options, financial aid and flexible learning options, including online coursework. Dallas College is one of the largest colleges in the nation, serving more than 130,000 students.

“Dallas College is offering innovative pathways for women and families to achieve economic security, stability and success with a full slate of wrap-around support services that make these pathways both affordable and achievable,” said Karen Hughes White, Texas Women’s Foundation president and CEO. “It is only fitting that Dallas College has received Texas Women’s Foundation’s largest-ever educational grant.”

“This grant will help thousands of students achieve a life-changing credential, leading them to a rewarding career in Dallas’ top industries,” said Josh Skolnick, executive director of the Dallas College Foundation. “The supported programs, including the Dallas College Promise Scholarship, have already helped over 26,000 students pursue their dreams.”
