Daring to call a museum “sedate”?

We would never, nor would any devoted museum maven, for the outsized ideas found inside a cultural institution crackle with far-reaching ideas, weird notions, and a vision that feels loud in all of the cool and compelling ways.

Still, for the most part, patrons at a painting-packed, sculpture-lined location are generally expected to keep on the calmer side, to speak in hushed voices, and to manage any exuberant outbursts (though, yes, great works of art can inspire a certain exuberance of spirit, understandably).

But come Dec. 31, that will all change, at least over a few festive hours, at The Broad.

The Grand Avenue contemporary art museum will rev up the 2026 early with a few festive Noon Year’s Eve occurrences, merry moments that will take place within the august destination’s galleries.

“On the hour, every hour, from 12-4 pm, join our gallery countdowns and make some joyful noise as we welcome 2026 one hour at a time,” shares the museum staff.

Truthfully? Creating some “joyful noise” while inside an art-strong space feels like just the auspicious way we’d like to conclude 2025 and jump into 2026.

But first: Do book your free general admission ticket at the museum’s site.

Dec. 31 is expected to be on the damper side, so many early-in-the-day revelers may be seeking celebratory indoor spots, and with good reason. In short: That advance ticket will be important.

Complimentary posters will be given away, too, with artwork by Patrick Martinez and Jeffrey Gibson.

Do note that the “Robert Therrien: This Is a Story” exhibit is a separately ticketed event. You can purchase your $19 ticket at the museum site.
