If you haven’t already got plans or want to try some different for New Year’s Eve (aka Wednesday, December 31), there is an absolutely free event taking place that will have all howling. Or, rather, not howling.
Dallas Animal Services is hosting “Calming The Canines” from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at its facility at 1818 Westmoreland Road.
Calming The Canines*
Since New Year’s Eve can be a daunting affair for animals in the shelter with fireworks and other hoopla, the night can be pretty stressful. That’s why the night’s program reading to the pooches can calm the anxiety.
You don’t have to dress all fancy unless you want to show off that new outfit. But you are encouraged to bring your own chair or yoga mat and to attend the brief orientation at 10:30 p.m.
Even if it’s past your usual bedtime, rest easy. You can sleep in Thursday morning.
BTW, consider ride sharing or carpooling and arrive early.
