HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – On Sunday, December 28, a Houston County Sheriff’s Office deputy located a truck that was reported stolen from Trinity County on December 27.

The occupant of the stolen vehicle was arrested, the sheriff’s office said. The stolen items recovered in the vehicle included two stolen guns. The occupant was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon, possession of a controlled substance as well as other county warrants.

On Monday, December 29, the sheriff’s office continued working on the stolen property case. With the help of Crockett PD, they said they were able to recover an ATV that was stolen with the truck. They then made several arrests, including two men for Possession of Marijuana, one female for Prostitution and a second female for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office said that the amount of drug paraphernalia and the presence of narcotics was truly disturbing, as a small child of around 18 months is in and out of the home.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office said, while completing the search of the property, Sheriff Benge noticed blood and what appeared to be deer hair on a handcart. The quartered carcass of a whitetail buck deer that was shot well after legal shooting hours and without a valid Texas Hunting License was recovered. That case was turned over to Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens.
