Unai Emery has come under criticism for walking away without shaking Mikel Arteta’s hand after Arsenal beat Aston Villa 4-1.

The Villa boss had never lost a game at the Emirates Stadium as the opposition manager, but that run came to an end on Tuesday night.

Emery’s tactics of wasting time, slowing the game down and breaking play up gave his side a few chances in the first half, but they were hammered by Arteta’s men after the break.

The former Arsenal manager was clearly not happy, and what some home fans were singing may well be one of the reasons why.

Be honest. What was your immediate reaction to seeing Unai Emery snub a handshake with Mikel Arteta?

What Arsenal fans were chanting at Unai Emery during Aston Villa clash

Unai Emery has caused a lot of pain to Arsenal fans over the years.

Not only did the 54-year-old struggle during his time at the Emirates and produce some terrible football, but he has since achieved some great results against the Gunners as the opposition manager.

When news emerged that Declan Rice would miss the game due to injury, Arsenal fans feared the worst, and there were some worrying signs in the first half.

However, Arsenal absolutely battered the Villans in the second, and home fans at the Emirates had their fun on Tuesday night.

After mocking Emiliano Martinez by saying that David Raya is better, the supporters turned their attention to their old boss.

“Emery, what’s the score, Emery, Emery, what’s the score?” could be heard around the Emirates as Arsenal piled the pressure on Villa.

That is perhaps one of the reasons why Emery snubbed a handshake with Mikel Arteta after the game. He was rattled.

Mikel Arteta put an end to a ridiculous debate after Arsenal beat Aston Villa

Arteta is often questioned by fans, and the Arsenal manager has proved people wrong on countless occasions over the last six years.

Despite that, there are some who feel that Emery is a better manager than Arteta. A few people even claim that the now-Villa boss wasn’t given enough time at the Emirates.

That is absurd, as Emery’s spell at Arsenal was woeful. He deserved to be shown the door after 18 months, and the Gunners were right to replace him with Arteta.

On Tuesday night, after an emphatic 4-1 victory, the current Gunners boss has ended any debate around him and Emery.

It is clear as day that Arteta is the better manager.
