CORONADO, CA — A large sinkhole shut down a Coronado street Wednesday amid stormy weather conditions and predicted rain.

The sinkhole opened up on Fourth Street and Orange Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Authorities have already shut down the intersection while they address the sinkhole.

The news comes after authorities warned the public of possible localized flooding in Coronado, especially near First Street and A Avenue and at the Five Points intersection.

Motorists were urged to avoid the affected areas and drive with caution.

No further information was immediately available.
