New England Patriots star defensive tackle Christian Barmore is facing a domestic assault charge, according to court documents out of Attleborough District Court.The 26-year-old is charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member. The misdemeanor charge stems from an alleged incident in Mansfield on Aug. 8.According to charging documents, the victim had been in a relationship with Barmore.She alleged Barmore became angry with her about the air conditioning temperature in his bedroom and that they also had an argument over food.According to court documents, the victim told police Barmore grabbed her phone from her hands while she was trying to leave the house.Charging documents stated the victim “intended to open the door and scream for help but Christian grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor.”The victim claimed Barmore grabbed her by the shirt “in the area of the neck” as she tried to get up, but he eventually let her go.The police report goes on to say Barmore rushed at the victim, but never touched her.The alleged incident happened in front of the couple’s 2-year-old child.The report said the victim told police she had bruises and that she sent a photo to officers.Court documents state the victim called a car service that’s provided to Patriots players to drive her and her daughter to Delaware.The victim allegedly didn’t come forward sooner out of fear of retaliation, but decided to move forward with charges in September, according to the report.According to court documents, on Dec. 4, an email sent from the victim to police stated she did not want to move forward with charges.The criminal complaint was issued on Dec. 16, and Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 3, 2026, five days before Super Bowl LX.Barmore’s lawyer released the following statement: “We are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place. Based on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.”The New England Patriots released the following statement about the allegations against Barmore:”The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August. The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”A spokesperson for the NFL said Barmore is eligible to play at this time and the matter remains under review of the league’s personal conduct policy.The news comes one day after superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a motion hearing for allegedly attacking his personal chef on Dec. 2.The Patriots are set to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday for their final regular-season game.New England currently holds the No. 2 seed in the AFC as the playoffs approach.Both Barmore and Diggs’ are available for Sunday’s game at this time.Head Coach Mike Vrabel spoke at his weekly press conference Wednesday, saying in part, “It’s an ongoing legal matter and these are allegations… I don’t think we have to jump to any sort of conclusions right now and let the process take its toll.”Barmore was previously cited in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2024 for operation of an unregistered vehicle, driving with expired registration and display of plates penalties in Providence, Rhode Island.He initially accused the officers of racism before issuing an apology shortly thereafter.Barmore was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft.
