A fatal crash on East Loop 820 North in Fort Worth left one driver dead after their car overturned, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A fatal crash shut down part of the East Loop 820 North Freeway Wednesday evening after a two-vehicle crash caused one car to overturn, police said.

Fort Worth officers responded at around 5:46 p.m. to the northbound lanes near 600 East Loop 820 North Freeway following reports of a major accident, police said. When they arrived, they reported finding that two vehicles had collided with one another, and that one of the vehicles had flipped over.

Officials confirmed that the driver of the overturned vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional details about the other vehicle or any potential injuries to its riders were released.

The incident remains under investigation, and no further information was immediately available.
