JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – As the new year approaches, people across Eastern Carolina are preparing to launch their resolutions for 2026.
As 2025 comes to a close, Jacksonville residents are reflecting on their aspirations, with many setting traditional fitness goals alongside more ambitious plans.
Precious Gordon, an Onslow County resident, said her resolution focuses on a specific fitness milestone.
“My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to do a pull-up,” Gordon said.
Jesus Cruz also has multiple wellness goals planned for the coming year.
“Hitting the gym, going to therapy, getting my mind right, focusing on my career, and a haircut,” Cruz said.
For Dashawn Edwards, 2026 will bring a significant relocation. Edwards, a veteran whose wife serves in the Army, said they are preparing for an overseas move.
“My New Year’s resolution is to pack up and sell my house since we’re moving to Germany. My wife is in the Army, and we have to execute order. I’m a veteran ready to enjoy the next chapter in our lives,” Edwards said.
Some residents are setting goals for later in the year. Aubrie Camden said her resolution involves summer plans.
“My New Year’s resolution is to get more tan this summer than I did last summer,” Camden said.
Chloe Lanier said she plans to continue her current spiritual and social practices rather than making major changes.
“My resolution is to continue to get closer with God and my friends,” Lanier said.
Whether focused on fitness, family, faith or fresh starts abroad, Jacksonville residents said they are ready for 2026 with clear plans and small steps toward their goals.
