The Seattle Kraken agreed to a two-year contract extension with 26-year-old defenseman Cale Fleury, the team announced Friday.

The deal is worth an average annual value of $890,000.

Fleury had one assist in 14 games with the Kraken this past season. He spent most of the year at Coachella Valley, where he served as an alternate captain for the Kraken’s American Hockey League affiliate. He totaled seven goals and 19 assists in 39 games with Coachella Valley and was named to the AHL Pacific Division All-Stars team.

Fleury was a third-round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2017. He appeared in 41 games for Montreal during his 2019-20 rookie season before being selected by Seattle in the 2021 expansion draft. He has skated in 36 games over four seasons with the Kraken.

“Cale’s been an important player in our organization,” Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said in a statement. “He’s developed into a steady and reliable defenseman, and we’re happy to have him under contract for the next two years.”
