Mayor Zohran Mamdani introduced his pick to lead the city’s Department of Transportation minutes after he was sworn in at midnight Thursday.

Michael Flynn spent nine years at the city DOT before becoming a transit consultant.

Flynn likely faces the task of helping fulfill one of Mamdani’s biggest campaign promises: fast and free buses.

“I know first-hand that New York City DOT has some of the most passionate, talented and committed public servants in the country, if not the world, and they are ready to think big and deliver big on our ambitious agenda,” Flynn said.

Mamdani had announced five additional members of his administration on Wednesday, including Kamar Samuels to serve as the city’s next schools chancellor.

Mamdani also named Ahmed Tigani as the Department of Buildings commissioner, Louise Yeung as chief climate officer, Emmy Liss as head of the Mayor’s Office of Child Care and Julia Kerson as deputy mayor of operations.
