SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – No. 8 TCU will go for the longest single-season winning streak and best start to a season in the history of Horned Frogs basketball on Saturday when it challenges Utah.
 
The Frogs matched the 2023-24 squad’s record run of 14 consecutive victories to open a season with their 72-48 victory at BYU on Wednesday.
 
TCU enters the second leg of its two-game road swing through the mountains as one of only eight remaining unbeaten teams across the Division I ranks. All 14 of the Horned Frogs’ wins have been by double digits. 
 
Saturday’s ballgame is set for an 8 p.m. CT tip inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center and will air on ESPN+.

  • Olivia Miles and Marta Suarez combined for five triple-doubles in a 25-day span from Dec. 6-31. Not only does TCU lead the country in triple-doubles by a sizable margin, the Horned Frogs’ five triple-doubles are tied for the third-most in a single season in NCAA history. Oregon set the NCAA single-season record in Campbell’s tenure as associate head coach, racking up eight triple-doubles in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
  • TCU’s five triple-doubles in December are also the most in a single month by a team in NCAA history.
  • TCU is the only team in the Big 12 and one of just 20 nationally with four players averaging at least 10 points and 3.5 rebounds per game; Miles, Suarez, Donovyn Hunter and Clara Silva.
  • The Horned Frogs primary starting five of Miles, Suarez, Hunter, Silva and Maddie Scherr is the fifth highest-scoring unit in college basketball at 66.5 points per game. Only South Carolina (76.6 ppg), Oklahoma (73.2 ppg), Notre Dame (71 ppg) and UCLA (68.6 ppg) have higher scoring starting lineups.
  • Miles (18.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg) and Suarez (18.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg) are the only pair of D1 teammates averaging at least 18 points and six rebounds per contest. Both players have scored 15-plus in 12-of-14 games.
  • Miles and Suarez’s 8.8 combined win shares are more than any other tandem in college hoops.

Olivia Miles

  • Moved to third outright in NCAA history for career triple-doubles (10) on Wednesday.
  • Notched her fourth triple-double in her last five games and matched Sabrina Ionescu for the most triple-doubles in a single month in the history of the sport.
  • Overtook Baylor’s Brittney Griner for the Big 12 single-season triple-doubles record. Griner posted three over the course of the 2009-10 campaign. Miles recorded four in just 25 days time.
  • Ahead of Wednesday’s ballgame, is one of only four players in NCAA history to average at least 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game in a season. The others are Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu and Kim Rhock (Mount St. Mary’s).
  • Leads college basketball in total win shares (5.1) and defensive win shares (2.0).
  • Is averaging career-highs in points per game (18.4), assists per game (7.8), rebounds per game (7.5) and steals per game (2.1) while shooting 52 percent from the field.
  • Ranks fourth in the country in assist per game average.
  • Finished with at least 15 points and five assists in an NCAA Power Conference record 12 straight games to begin the 2025-26 campaign.

Marta Suarez

  • One of only two D1 players 6-3-or-taller to post a triple-double this season and one of 75 in D1 college women’s basketball history to do so.
  • Is the only player in college basketball averaging at least 18 points, six rebounds and two assists per game while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and 40 percent from distance.
  • Her 36 threes are the most of any D1 player at least 6-3.
  • Has already drained the 11th-most 3-pointers in a season by a Big 12 player standing 6-3 or taller.
  • Has led TCU in scoring in a team-high six games.
  • Ranks sixth in all of Division I in scoring average among players 6-3 or taller.

Clara Silva

  • Is averaging 13.3 points, seven rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game over her last six outings.
  • Led TCU in scoring for the second time in the last four games vs. BYU.
  • Has scored in double figures in four straight games.
  • Is one of eight underclassmen players in the nation averaging at least 10 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
  • Has pulled down at least eight rebounds on nine occasions.

Donovyn Hunter

  • Is averaging career-highs in points per game (13.1), rebounds per game (3.4), field goal percentage (.518) and 3-point field goal percentage (.413).
  • Scored in double figures in each of TCU’s first nine ballgames.
  • Since TCU’s loss at Kansas State on Feb. 5, Hunter has more than doubled her scoring average. She has tallied an average 10 points per game across her last 28 outings compared to 5.2 points per game prior to the Frogs’ visit to the Little Apple.
  • Tallied all nine of her points in TCU’s win over BYU on Wednesday in the second half.

Maddie Scherr

  • Tops the Big 12 statistical rankings and is sixth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.69).
  • Has produced a 4.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (36-8) over her last eight outings.
  • Has recorded at least five assists in as many games.
  • Needs two steals to become the 10th active D1 player with at least 400 assists and 190 steals.

Taylor Bigby

  • TCU is 15-0 and 5-0 this season when Bigby scores in double figures.
  • Leading scorer off the bench in nine of TCU’s 14 games.
  • Has scored in double figures in four of her 10 career Big 12 road games.

Kennedy Basham

  • Leads the Big 12 and ranks 14th in the country in blocks per game (2.3).
  • Ranks fourth and sixth, respectively, among all active D1 players in career blocks per game average (1.98) and total blocks (182).
  • Has finished with at least three blocks in 15 of her 21 career Big 12 games.
  • Tallied the third-most blocks in league play of any Big 12 player last season with 53.

Series Notes: Utah 

  • The Huntsman Center is the site of one of the great games in TCU women’s basketball history on Feb. 10, 2010. TCU defeated Utah 105-96 in four overtimes. Three Horned Frogs scored at least 20 points to offset a legendary effort by Utes forward Kaylee Whipple, who scored a Mountain West Conference single-game record 45 points and sank a game-tying three as time expired in the third overtime.  The contest remains one of only three quadruple overtime games in TCU program history.
  • TCU and Utah were ranked 10th and 23rd, respectively, in the Horned Frogs’ 81-73 takedown of the Utes on Jan. 17, 2025. The victory was one of TCU’s single-season record nine ranked wins in 2024-25.
  • The Frogs led the Utes 45-24 at halftime in last season’s battle, only for Utah to close within six points of the Frogs, 67-61, with 5:47 to go. TCU countered with a 6-0 run and subsequently converted 10-12 free throws to ice the game.
