PHOENIX – One driver was killed in a multivehicle crash that led to both directions of US 60/Grand Avenue being closed in Surprise on Friday morning, authorities said.

The closure is at Dysart Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Multiple patients were taken to a hospital for treatment, one of whom did not survive their injuries, according to the Surprise Police Department.

Motorists should expect delays in the area or seek alternate routes.

There was no estimate for when US 60/Grand Avenue will reopen. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
