SAN ANTONIO – A woman was injured on New Year’s Day and a suspect remains at large following a violent incident involving a machete and inappropriate groping, San Antonio Police officials said.
Police were called around 7:30 a.m. Thursday at a home off Walzem Road and Windsor Oaks for a report of a stabbing on Northeast Side.
Officers learned the situation began after a 22-year-old man allegedly groped a female, prompting her to leave the home.
The suspect then reportedly brandished a machete and began “hacking at the railing of the front porch.”
Two men at the scene tried to intervene by throwing rocks, which broke a window, while a 25-year-old woman also attempted to stop him and was cut on the hand by the machete.
The suspect took off and the injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Witnesses on the scene were reportedly uncooperative with police.
As of Friday afternoon, the suspect is still at large. The investigation is ongoing.
