A big puppy was rescued from a tight situation by some big-hearted firefighters on New Year’s Day.

The year got off to a rough start for Sky, a handsome 9-month-old Cane Corso, when he somehow found himself wedged between two block walls. The large and muscular Italian mastiff was trapped for hours between 6 inches of space between the walls at a property in the Lancaster area.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Stations 134 and 33 responded to the call of an animal in distress. Using special equipment, Sky was removed from between the walls and examined by members of the Lancaster Animal Care Center medical team.

The owner surrendered Sky after learning he needed to be neutered, the care center said in a Facebook post. He was at the Lancaster Animal Care Center for observation.

Sky’s ID #A5747256 can be checked on the Los Angeles County Animal Care website for updates on whether he will be available for adoption or to rescue groups.
