Heavy lake effect snow continues east-southeast of Lake Ontario with Oswego County getting hit the hardest through tonight.
Outside of lake snow, it remains breezy and frigid. The heaviest snow is expected to fall near and especially north of the New York State Thruway through Friday night. At times, snowfall rates may exceed 3 inches an hour within the heart of the band of snow.
Lake effect snow will drop south and weaken a bit Saturday but remains southeast of Lake Ontario into Saturday afternoon. Highs will be in the teens and 20s, with wind chills in the single digits and teens.
An area-wide chance of snow showers moves in Saturday night with minor accumulation. Behind this system, additional lake effect snow showers looks likely south-southeast of Lake Ontario Sunday.
