Mansion Global couldn’t determine who owns the castle.

The grand entrance door opens onto a hallway that leads to a drawing room, a dining room, an orangery and a billiards room, each with fireplaces inspired by those of French King Francis I, which were characterized by their Renaissance grandeur.

Indeed, Renaissance-inspired detailing and period craftsmanship can be found throughout the 22-bedroom home, like the wooden staircase, sculpted and adorned with lion heads.

In the basement, the castle’s former coal and wine cellars have been converted into a gym and wellness area, and are joined by a large kitchen, pantry and scullery.

The chateau lords over a more than 120-acre gated estate, dotted with lawns, meadows, a pond and ornamental plantings, and is bordered by woodland. There is also a caretaker’s lodge and a second small chateau that’s awaiting renovation, the listing said.
