HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The City of Houston is alerting residents about a wastewater spill in southeast Houston on Friday.
The city said a structural failure led to more than 100,000 gallons of wastewater being spilled on Goodyear, just south of Highway 225, as of 8 p.m. Friday.
If you get your drinking water from the City of Houston, officials say your water is safe. However, people using private drinking water supply wells within half a mile of the spill site should boil any water for personal use.
The city says people with private wells should get their water tested.
According to city officials, crews with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Houston Public Works are working to address the structural failure.
