A teen is hospitalized with serious injuries after a Phoenix shooting, prompting police investigation into the incident near 7th and Garfield streets.

PHOENIX — A teen was hospitalized after a shooting in Phoenix, the city’s police department said.

Just after 10 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the area near 7th and Garfield streets for reports of gunshots. As the officers arrived on scene, they reportedly found a teen boy with at least one gunshot wound.  

Authorities said the teen was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. 

The identity and condition of the boy were not immediately released. Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the shooting.
