JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed OL Cole Van Lanen to a three-year contract extension, the team announced today.
Van Lanen, 27, has played 15 games for the Jaguars this season and has started the last nine at four different positions across the offensive line. He has most recently started the last four games at left tackle. Van Lanen has helped the Jaguars to an NFL-high five games without allowing a sack in 2025, the second-most such games in a season in franchise history. In addition to protecting QB Trevor Lawrence, he has opened holes for RB Travis Etienne Jr. to run for over 1,000 yards for the third time in his career.
Van Lanen, a Green Bay, Wis. native was originally drafted by the Packers in the sixth round (214th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He appeared in one game his rookie season with Green Bay before being acquired via trade by Jacksonville in 2022. In four seasons with the Jaguars, Van Lanen has played 49 regular season games (12 starts) and appeared in two postseason contests. In over 800 offensive snaps, he has been called for just five penalties and credited with only four sacks.
Van Lanen played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin from 2016-20 where he played 45 games (19 starts). He served as the starting left tackle and earned All-Big Ten honors in each of his final two seasons with the Badgers.
