Delays in raw material deliveries have led to a decrease in industrial production in December, transport costs have increased by 15% and the prices of several fruit and vegetables originating mainly from northern Greece have grown by over 50% in many cases.
These are the effects so far of the farmers’ blockades on central roads and at custom offices in the country.
For the time being, there are no increases in product prices, as any extra costs are absorbed by businesses. However, if the protests are prolonged, product stocks are reduced, and shortages begin to be recorded, it will be just a matter of time before the unrest is reflected in retail prices.Â
