PHOENIX — A man has been arrested in connection with a west Phoenix shooting that left another man dead in October, authorities announced Friday.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the man as 25-year-old Efrain Cuevas Jr.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Cuevas Jr. was booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge.

On Oct. 9, Phoenix officers responded to reports of a shooting near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road around 5:22 p.m.

When police arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Police said the man was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries that he later died from.

Police did not release the identity of the man killed in the west Phoenix shooting.
