SAPD says the 43-year-old suspect was traveling the wrong way and collided with the victim’s vehicle head-on. He was evaluated for signs of intoxication.
SAN ANTONIO — A 21-year-old woman was critically injured in a wrong-way crash early Sunday at the intersection of North Foster Road and FM 78, according to San Antonio police.
SAPD said officers were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. to a major accident at the intersection, where investigators said a 43-year-old man was traveling wrong way on FM 78 and struck the woman’s vehicle head-on.
Police said the woman was found unresponsive inside her vehicle with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle was found with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. He was also taken to a local hospital where SAPD said officers evaluated him for signs of intoxication.
San Antonio police are investigating the crash as an intoxication assault. No word on any possible charges at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing and police said the information is preliminary and subject to change.
