Jacksonville’s Cam Little kicked a 67-yard field goal to end the first half, giving him the two longest kicks in NFL history in the same season.
With three seconds remaining in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Titans, the Jaguars took over on downs at the Tennessee 49-yard line after the Titans failed to convert on a fourth-down pass. They were already leading 28-7.
It left Jaguars coach Liam Coen with two options: try a Hail Mary pass or let Little try from 67 yards away.
Little lined up his kick, and it hooked left at the perfect time to make it a 31-7 lead for Jacksonville. It set the NFL record for the longest outdoor field goal.
Little set the NFL record for the longest-ever field goal with a 68-yarder at the Las Vegas Raiders in early November. That took place under the dome at Allegiant Stadium.
He also booted a 70-yarder in the preseason.
As for the Jaguars (13-4), they earned a home playoff game with a 41-10 drubbing of the Titans.
The Jaguars could land the AFC’s No. 1 seed, but more likely will end up as the third and host Buffalo or the Los Angeles Chargers next week.
