Rainbow Warriors basketball outworked by UC San Diego, loses 83-73

  • January 5, 2026

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team fell to the UC San Diego Tritons, 83-73, Saturday evening in La Jolla, California.

Despite riding the high of a 7-game winning streak and a 43-point victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders on Friday night, the dinged up ‘Bows couldn’t keep up with the Tritons.

The offense was led by forward Harry Rouhliadeff and guard Dre Bullock as the pair powered the offense on a rather dull night for Eran Ganot’s squad, scoring 16 and 15, respectively.

Senior center Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson had a quiet night, only scoring 10 points on a limited night where he seemed to injure himself on a dunk attempt near the end of the first half.

The end of the first half spelled doom for the ‘Bows, as the Tritons took advantage of UH’s offensive lapses to end the half on a 7-0 run.

Coming out of halftime, the Triton’s continued their scoring flurry with a 10-0 run to score 17 unanswered points in 7 minutes and 25 seconds of game time.

UCSD was led by sophomore guard Alex Chaikan off the bench, scoring three of his five three-point attempts to drain 15 points on the ‘Bows.

Former Hawaii guard Tom Beattie had an opportunity to face his old team after transferring from UH last season and Beattie finished the night with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

Hawaii returns home to the Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center for their first game back in Manoa since December 13th to face off the Big West leading UC Irvine Anteaters.
