It’s a new week, which means it’s time to mine Landman’s latest episode for North Texas Easter eggs. The West Texas-set oil rig drama, co-created by Taylor Sheridan, has shot across Dallas-Fort Worth. The script, accordingly, reflects the milieu.
Here are some of the local ties in “Handsome Touched Me,” the eighth episode of season 2.
Rick’s Cabaret
After T.L. (Sam Elliott) finds himself immobile in an earlier scene, Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) seeks unorthodox help from an adult dancer at Rick’s Cabaret on Calmont Avenue in Fort Worth. He hires the woman to be T.L’s physical therapist.
News Roundups
“He’s 82 years old, and he’s ate up with arthritis and all kind of injuries, and he can barely get from one end of the couch to the other,” Tommy explains to the dancer, who is skeptical about his request. “Now, I figure, your line of work you probably got to stay pretty limber, right?”
Toro Toro
Cami (Demi Moore) sits at the bar top of Toro Toro, a dimly lit, chic downtown Fort Worth restaurant. The eatery, she tells a man in the scene, is next door to her office.
Texas Rangers
Angela (Ali Larter) is decked out in Rangers paraphernalia at the end of the episode, a nod to the MLB team based out of Arlington’s Globe Life Field.
