SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar tells us a 17-year-old girl who has been missing for over a week has been in contact with investigators and is expected to come home soon.
Angelique Johnson was last seen on Dec. 25 in the 130 block of Exeter Place, near Potranco Road, on the city’s Northwest Side.
She disappeared just one day after 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, whose case received national attention. BCSO’s handling of Angelique’s disappearance received some criticism due to the disparity in coverage.
In an update on Monday, the sheriff told us he believes Angelique has been in contact with an investigator via phone and told the investigator she intended to come home soon after the first of the year.
She agreed to call the investigator when she returned home so they could meet in person.
“So at this point, we don’t believe that she is in any sort of danger,” Sheriff Salazar said.
He says Angelique will remain listed as an active missing person until the investigator can meet with her face-to-face, as per BCSO protocol.
