Police arrested the suspect on New Year’s Day while investigating a report about an unwanted person
One person has been charged in an assault that happened last month in the city.
On Dec. 11, Sault Ste. Marie police were called to an altercation in the 700 block of Wellington Street East.
“An investigation revealed the accused punched a victim who is known to them,” police alleged in a news release.
Police arrested the suspect on New Year’s Day while investigating a report about an unwanted person in the 600 block of Wellington Street East.
Kenneth Megginson, 45, was charged with assault.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
