Savannah Guthrie has an important update for Today show fans who have been awaiting her return ever since she revealed her plans to have vocal cord surgery in the new year. Taking to Instagram with a whiteboard and a dry erase marker, the longtime host shared that she’s “all good,” adding, “Thanks for prayers and love!”
“See you soon! 💛” Guthrie wrote in her caption.

Guthrie announced her plans to take a break from Today back in December when she revealed that she had vocal nodules and a polyp that needed to be removed.
“Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit,” Guthrie said at the time. “Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp. It’s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks, so this is my last day for a little while.”
“This has been going on for years, honestly,” she added.

Following her surgery, the co-host has been “totally silent.” Fellow co-anchor Sheinelle Jones also had the same surgery back in 2020.
“The silver lining is you have permission to be still,” she told Guthrie, per People. “The house gets quiet, the kids are gonna want to help you out.”

As for Guthrie’s white board message, it turns out it was actually Jones who gifted her the helpful tool so that she could still communicate. “A lot of the greats have done it, maybe you’ll come out singing like, I don’t know, Celine Dion,” she joked.
“Well, you know, it’s really funny, I used to sing,” Guthrie quipped. “Then I couldn’t sing anymore and then I couldn’t speak anymore. So who knows guys, the tour is happening in 2026.”
