Officials have identified a woman who died following a house fire in East Fort Worth on New Years Eve.
Opale Williams, 52, died in a hospital at about 12:43 p.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Williams had been inside the burning home with several animals in the 4600 block of Shackleford Street, according to the medical examiner’s staff and the Fort Worth Fire Department.
Officials were initially told there were two people trapped inside the house when they responded to the fire around 11:50 a.m., firefighters said.

Firefighters found the woman inside the one-story house and pulled her out of the building, firefighters said.
Williams was taken to a hospital were she died.
Crews returned to the house to search for the second resident and were able to locate him, unharmed, on another part of the property. Firefighters found three dogs inside the home but were unable to save them, the statement said.
No further details about what started fire were immediately available.
