Jacksonville will host the annual African American Read-in on Feb. 1.

Jacksonville will kick off Black History Month with an afternoon of inspiration and celebration at the African American Read-In.

Now in it’s 22nd year, the read-in celebrates culture, creativity, and the power of reading together.

The program is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Jack Amyette Recreation Center, 825 South Drive, where after-school students will share poems, literature and artistic works created by African American authors.

Entertainment and light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
