JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WICS) — Jacksonville police responded to reports of gunfire on Jan. 5 in the 300 block of W. Beecher Ave., where a residence was struck multiple times.
No injuries were reported. The following morning, officers stopped Quantorius J. Courtney, 28, for a traffic violation in the 800 block of N. Clay Ave.
Courtney fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. A loaded handgun, later found to be stolen, was discovered in his vehicle.
Courtney was arrested and faces multiple charges, including armed habitual criminal and possession of a stolen firearm.
He remains in custody at the Morgan County Jail. Jacksonville police urge anyone with information on recent shootings to contact their investigative division or Crime Stoppers.
