HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police are investigating a crash that killed a man as he was trying to cross the road in northwest Houston.
The crash happened in the 13700 block of Clay Road in the Addicks Reservoir on Monday at about 11:35 p.m., according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sgt. Rose and Officer Hudson said the 29-year-old man was trying to cross the roadway in a dark, heavily wooded area when a black Honda Accord struck him.
Authorities said the 36-year-old driver stopped and tried to provide first aid to the victim. When Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived, they pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said they determined that the driver was not impaired and was released after questioning.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials said.
HPD said the investigation is still ongoing.
