A woman was arrested Tuesday on UCLA’s campus in connection with the death of her infant, Santa Monica police said.
Just before noon, campus police alerted the Santa Monica Police Department of a woman who indicated she harmed her child and left them in an apartment on Broadway. Officers went to the unit and found an infant with what police described as “significant” injuries.
The baby was taken to a nearby hospital, where they died.
As a result, the woman was taken into custody then to Santa Monica Jail. It’s unclear what charges she may face in the case.
Santa Monica police said it would not release the names of the woman and the baby at this time. The infant’s cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
