Now that the holidays are over, you may be wondering what to do with those live Christmas trees!

The City of Dallas is offering to recycle them for free. Dallas residents can drop off their trees at the City landfill or one of their transfer stations.

According to the City of Dallas, trees will be accepted through January 24th. All of the decorations must be removed from the tree before drop-off.

The City also said that the tree should not be wrapped or bagged when being dropped off.

Donated trees will be mulched and reused at the McCommas Bluff Landfill or for on-site road and drainage projects.

Artificial trees cannot be recycled, but can be brought to a landfill, transfer station, or put out with bulk trash.

One live tree per household can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Northwest Transfer Station – 9500 Harry Hines Blvd.
  • Northeast Transfer Station – 7677 Fair Oaks Ave.
  • Southwest Transfer Station – 4610 S. Westmoreland Rd.
