Two would-be thieves attempted to steal luxury handbags from a store in Irvine but were apprehended by police on Monday. 

According to police, security alerted police after spotting the two people on surveillance footage entering the store located near Jamboree Road and Dupont Drive.

With the help of the Costa Mesa Police Department’s drone, officers located the two suspected thieves and took them into custody. 

Police estimate $100,000 worth of handbags were taken from the store. 

Richard Bernard Spencer, 40, of Los Angeles, and Marcellus Ronell Shelby, 30, of Hollywood, were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on charges of burglary, grand theft, conspiracy, vandalism, and resisting arrest.
