Security video shows moments before 4-year-old boy shot in Phoenix

  • January 8, 2026

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Home security video revealed the moments leading up to when a 4-year-old was shot in the face in south Phoenix Tuesday.

In the video, you can hear a woman demand that someone come out. Seconds later, the woman pulls out what appears to be a rifle and shoots near 32nd Street and Broadway Road shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The bullet hit 4-year-old Qahsiem Sinclair. “Justice for Qahsiem,” said Meishaq Sinclair, father of Qahsiem. “Yes, justice for Qahsiem,” said Laresha Mason, Qahsiem’s grandmother.

Sinclair has been by his son’s side at the hospital ever since that act of violence. “Taking it day by day,” said Sinclair. “It’s tragic. It sucks but I’m glad my son is still here.”

While police have not released much information about what led to the shooting, Sinclair claimed the shooter was his brother’s ex-girlfriend. He said she showed up at their house.

“My brother’s (ex) girlfriend was outside the house going crazy and as I’m about to go see what’s going on, my older brother tells me to stay back. ‘I’m going to go talk to her.’ My son, he thought when my brother was going outside, he thought it was time to go outside and grabbed his scooter. As soon as the first person opened the door, happened to be my son walking out with his scooter, she still did what she did. She saw the kid right there and still decided to do what she did. We need justice for Qahsiem,” said Sinclair.

After the shooting, you can hear some yelling before the shooter gets in a vehicle and drives away. “I heard a scream and I just ran down and grabbed my son and damn near fainted a couple times. There was so much blood,” said Sinclair.

Sinclair said anger doesn’t even begin to describe what he feels for the person who hurt his son. “You hurt a 4-year-old kid, an innocent baby. All he did was smile,” said Sinclair. “I’m just so mad. He’s just so friendly.”

While it will be a long road to recovery, Sinclair said he’s grateful the bullet wasn’t deadly or caused more damage to his son’s face. He said his son has to be on a liquid diet until his face heals up, but that he’s grateful his son is still alive.
