Teezie has been making grills for more than 6 years and says this is by far the biggest response to anything he’s ever made.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — By now, Jacksonville Jaguars fans have likely seen the video of the Jaguars team celebrating their AFC South championship by surprising quarterback Trevor Lawrence with a jewel-encrusted grill.
The moment quickly went viral on social media, sparking reactions across the NFL world and earning Lawrence a new nickname among fans: “Steezy Trev.” But while the video captured the surprise, it didn’t tell the full story behind how the grill came to be — a story that starts right here in Jacksonville.
Inside a local jewelry shop, Jacksonville jeweler Teezie, CEO of Premium Jewelry Company, helped turn an online joke into a reality.
“This time last year, I was in Duval County jail for a violation of probation,” said Teezie. “One of the things I wrote down on my list of 2025 things I was gonna do was to make grills for the Jaguars organization.”
Fast forward to the end of 2025- and the beginning of “Steezy Trev.”
An AI-generated image began circulating online showing the Jaguars quarterback wearing a blinged-out mouthpiece. The Jaguars team quickly responded by posting a photo of Trevor himself with the AI photo with a caption that read, “16k likes and we’ll do it.”
Teezie says that’s when he reached out to a member of the Jaguars organization that he had recently met, to see if he could somehow make the “Steezy Trev” meme a reality.
About a week later, Teezie said he got a phone call from one of Trevor’s former teammates at Clemson, Darren.
“We had a good 30-minute conversation, and then he was like ‘man, we wanna make it happen, but we don’t want Trevor to know. If Trevor finds out he’s so humble, he might not wanna do it,” said Teezie. “So we were like, alright, cool, so we gotta figure out how to get the mold.”
That’s where Trevor’s wife Marissa comes in. She worked with Trevor’s mom to get a mold of his teeth from his dentist back home. The dentist then mailed the mold to Teezie so that he could create the custom piece, but that wasn’t the tough part.
“What a lot of people don’t understand is that everything had to be perfect for him to get the grill,” said Teezie. “We had to win every game, we had to beat the Colts, we had to beat the Titans, we just, everything had to happen.”
Everything did happen, and the rest is viral video history and what started as a viral image ended as a playoff celebration — one that put a Jacksonville small business in the national spotlight alongside the Jaguars’ AFC South title.
