Wednesday’s Injury Report
There was a welcome sight on the practice field at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday.
For the first time since suffering a foot injury in the November 16 win over the Detroit Lions, tackle Lane Johnson participated in practice.
“Lane is just a difference-maker and it can affect everything,” Head Coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday. “There’s a reason he’s going to be in the Eagles Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s one of the best ever to do at that position, and he shows that year in, out. I’ve been with him for five years and it feels like he just keeps getting better and better, which is a testament to Lane and how he takes care of his body and how he trains and how he mentally approaches this game of football that he loves. Man, I could go on all day about him.”
Johnson was one of five Eagles who was limited on Wednesday.
Linebacker Nakobe Dean, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter of the NFC East-clinching win against Washington on December 20, missed the final two games of the regular season. He, too, returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. Dean opened the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list while recovering from a knee injury that he incurred in the Wild Card win over the Packers last season. He made his season debut in Week 6 against the Giants and returned to the starting lineup two weeks later. In 10 games, Dean posted 55 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass defensed.
“No doubt about it, I’m playing,” Dean said on Wednesday after practice.
The only Eagles who did not practice were tight end Grant Calcaterra (ankle) and offensive lineman Brett Toth (concussion). Both players were injured last Sunday in the regular-season finale against Washington.
The Eagles opened outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari’s practice window on Wednesday. Ojulari was placed on Injured Reserve on November 1 with a hamstring injury.
