Mary Louise (Schudel) Reber

OBITUARY

Mary Louise (Schudel) Reber died December 15, 2025, at her home in Ramona, CA. Mary was well-known in Ramona for the boxes of cookies, cupcakes, and other goodies she regularly distributed (free) to places such as the post office, Chase Bank, Ramona Automotive, and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Mary was born May 5, 1940, in Defiance, Ohio. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and then Defiance High School. She received an award for 12 years of perfect attendance at those schools.

She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught third grade in Kenosha, WI, for two years.

In 1963, she married Jack Reber and moved to California. She taught at a Montessori school in San Diego for two years and then kindergarten for three years at Sacred Heart Academy of Ocean Beach.

In Ramona, she planted two acres of gardens, then took to baking gifts for various groups around town.

She is survived by her husband, sons Aaron (Marisa), Jason, and Nathan, and grandchildren Hannah, Giovanna, and Reese.

Rosary will be at 10 a.m., on January 12, 2026 followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow at Nuevo Memorial Gardens.
