Editor’s note: Featured pets may be adopted quickly, but there are always others ready for their forever home.

At the Humane Society of North Texas, adoption is about changing lives, one match at a time. Learn more about adoptions at HSNT’s Fort Worth and Keller locations, or at off-site adoption events held six days a week at HSNT.org.

January often invites a slower pace. Cold mornings, early sunsets and quiet evenings create the perfect backdrop for companionship. At the Humane Society of North Texas, the start of the year is also a powerful reminder that the need for pet adoption does not slow down with the season. Each new home creates space for another pet in need.

This week’s featured pets, Dancer and Gremlin, are small in size with oversize personalities.

Dancer, a 2-month-old heeler mix, is all motion and curiosity. True to his name, he moves through the world with confidence, bouncing from one new discovery to the next. Dancer is bright, alert and already showing the intelligence for which heelers are known. He would thrive with a family ready to keep him engaged, learn alongside him and turn winter walks into daily adventures. When the day winds down, he is happy to curl up and recharge, content to be close to his people.

Gremlin, a 3-month-old calico kitten, brings a different kind of energy. She is expressive, playful and full of character. One moment she is quietly observing from a warm perch, the next she is batting at toys with precision and flair. Gremlin has a curious mind and a mischievous streak that makes her endlessly entertaining.
