A Long Beach Poly High School student was hospitalized Thursday morning after a shooting near the campus.
The shooting was reported at about 8:30 a.m. near Long Beach Boulevard and 17th Street, just west of the school campus. Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available.
The student received medical attention after arriving at the school, a Long Beach Unified School District spokesperson said. The student was transported to a hospital, but details about the student’s condition were not immediately available.
“The incident occurred off campus, and the school remains safe,” the district spokesperson said in a statement. “LBUSD School Safety is maintaining an increased presence on campus as a precaution. Our thoughts are with the student and his family as they focus on recovery.”
No arrests were reported Thursday morning.
